The Future is Wasted

This project was a collaborative, cross-disciplinary publication built around a speculative fiction concept: a dystopian future in which climate change and human impact have so dramatically altered the environment that society is forced to adapt through extreme measures. The narrative was framed around a series of questions: how do we live, what does that look like, how did it happen, and how do we record it.

Collaborating Across Disciplines

The work brought together designers from different degrees and disciplines, each responding to the concept independently through their own medium: ceramics, illustration, 3D software, fabric design, and a mix of digital and hand-crafted processes. The role taken was one of creative direction and leadership: developing and steering the overarching concept, organising the collaboration, and designing the publication that tied all of the outcomes together into a single coherent narrative.

The final publication acted as an archive of this imagined world, holding together a wide range of visual languages and making them feel like part of the same story.
